  • Hey that is cool. They finally got to 1964. I really like that you made two of them yourself!

I'm wondering why there's no varieties set for 1964. There is for 1968.

Very nice, Russ. Of all those coins I find I like the Lincoln cent the best. Good job.

  • Russ...nice job. That set might be harder to beat than you think. I see they are up to 1969 now.

    Clankeye,

Truth be told, I'm flat-out in love with that Lincoln.image It gave me fits, though, when registering the set. The cert # wasn't in the database! I've been laying in wait for PCGS to get to the 1964 set, with my numbers on a 3x5 so I could spring and have my moment at the top. Panic set in because I was SURE somebody else was doing the same thing.

Fortunately, a quick call to Gayle and all was well.image

  • Good job Russ, when i saw this thread i jumped to register my 1987 prestige set.
dang, they're only up to 1969. I'm not sure i can wait another 20 years.
  • Nice set Russ!

I am surprized too that there are no varieties.

Way to go, Russ. What a surprise that you're at the top of the '64 set! image Congrats.

question from one who is ignorant: what the heck is "weighted gpa"??? grade-point average? like in college???

    K S
  • a weighted set gives more value to the hard to get in grade coins. It is much easier to get a 1973 silver Ike in ms 67 than a clad coin of that date and condition. You get higher quality points for the clad.

Good job Russ, and I love the heavy cameo Lincolns too. Are you thinking of building a collection of say the 60's that way?

gotcha, thanks. i guess it is kinda like grading a class on a curve, right? ie. harder tests count for more points.

    thanks

oh & russ, congratulations on achieving your goal!

  • Hi Russ,

Should have known you were a coin collector also! Seems like we share many similar interests.

    Forum A? image

Russ, why not all DCAM's? image Just kidding! Congrats on the top registry set. Are you going to have it pedigreed?
  • Way to go, Russ. While it is true that records are made to be broken, isn't it nice to know that your name is the first on the list?
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.

    Robert,

Forum A is a BBS where I've been a member for a long, long time. Kranky is also a member there, maybe as long as I. Pedigreed? Hehe, I think PCGS would laugh at me.image

    RLinn,

It is cool to be at number one, temporary or not.image Unless I win the lotto, this was going to be my only shot at it, so I was ready. Grabbed a screen shot too!
