raw from a dealer or ebay with forum help?

I recently had a wonderful coin buying experience with help from forum members. I was looking for a nice xf Indian Head Cent. Goose pointed me to Pushkin and I got a great, problem free, high eye-appeal coin which I treasure. Thanks guys! With all this said, this forum makes coin purchase easy. In a matter of hours I could have a dozen responses to a coin I'm interested in. Keeping this in mind, would you rather:

1)buy raw from a dealer where you can actually examine the coin in person?

2)buy from an ebay pic with all the help from forum members?

Not a bad question I would think...

I agree with Dorkkarl. The only exception may be if a forum member has seen a coin, and the scans make the coin appear to be to your liking, it may be worth the shot.

I agree that it is always best to view the coin in person, but there are also dealers/sellers that I have purchased from multiple times because I agree with their grading standards (or is it that their grading standards agree with mine?)
