THE KEY variety is the 1877-S. you can read about it in the latest coin-world.

It's called the King. There are 80 in the PCGS pop reports, many more in other holders or uncertified. The key to the variety set is probably the 1888/7....only 20 reported (or so), 8 total in PCGS holders. I have a photo of mine listed with the registry variety set - check it out (LakeSamm collection).

Check out Eagle Eye Rare Coins - they have both in inventory with a updated Pink Sheet as of 10-8-02.
