This is too funny an Annaconda auction!

Do you think bidder ball4142 has too much time on his hands? Took 25 min. to make a few dozen bids on the same item then stop for about 30 min. and then restart!

with a 0 rating, maybe he's new to ebay, and thinks its live.

That, or he's had too much caffeine. I feel that way sometimes. image

I like the background used in that photo - a nice addition to the coin.

Maybe I'm just being overly critical but his "hype" has to do with the coin being weakly struck on the reverse.....well isn't the one shown weakly struck?
"spare change? Nahhhhh...never have any...sold it all on E-bay..."

  • He's got a long way to go to hit the reserve. I wonder how many bids one person has placed on an item. He could be going for a new ebay record. image

The backgrounds are awesome. I've seen old issues of the Numismatist (sp?), old catalogs, and currency. It makes you appreciate the history of coins; and it's a great marketing tool.

The 28-S is one of the stoppers of the series to find in MS65 or better, and a tough piece even in premium MS64. Most 28-S's come horribly struck with a rather lacklustre appearance and plenty of abrasions. A premium MS64 28-S is worth in many cases multiples of greysheet prices when found. I dont believe there is such a thing as a fully struck 1928-S, nor a 1923-S, nor a 1925-S, etc. these are all very hard coins to find even with a relatively full strike and good lustre, and are all stoppers in the Peace dollar series in MS64+ or better IMO.

The coin pictured in that auction looks to be a very nice 28-S with beautiful peripheral color and will trade at a huge premium to the MS64 sheet prices.

obvious that the guy is new to eBay and maybe not real hip on pricing. i've never understood the mentality of going one step at a time up to an amount you're willing to pay in order to be the high bidder. i just pick an amount and enter it. i guess that all comes with experience, though.
