The '71 "no S" sounds nice: a tough coin in any grade!

Tell us about the "weird ones!" Are these for a set?

  • Bill.....When are we going to see those coins? That '71 no S is a keeper....gotta love the way Nickels tone. I was reading RGL's thread with his Proof Franklins. Has anyone been having good luck with Circ. Jeffs? I have several at PCGS. Thanks and good luck with your colleciton.

  • Go, Bill, Go!

I love to see new Jefferson collectors. Especially ones who are interested in the NO-S or SMS Jeffs!

I'm hoping a new design comes along soon and generates new interest in the series.

Has anyone been having good luck with Circ. Jeffs?

Hey, I'm glad you asked! Just back from one of my local coin shops while the Mrs. was having her annual check up. Nabbed 6 gems to superb prooflike FS Jeffs for $2.35. The big find was a 1955-D
with an early full strike and brilliant. I've had several low grade 63-64's FS 55-d's but sold them over the years because of their mushy strikes and dark color annealing problems. But this is the first I've seen fully strucked and brilliant. The steps are 95% sharp but are not quite full or certifiable due to a small meld and a couple of light nicks on the 3rd and 4th steps. Overall the best 55-d I've seen and for only 75 cents. I’ll try to have some pics later. The others were a weak struck lustrous 56 MS64 FS and a 88-D, 93-D and two prooflike 2002-P's that would all grade MS65 to 66, all 6 steppers.
The steps look different on the 2002-P's, each step looks bolder or wider. Not sure what it is but they definitely look like the mint did something to them.

Bill, Congratulations on your 71 no S cameo proof. That one I don't have yet, seen several but haven't taken the plunge yet. On one adventurous ride I took with a once trustworthy guy, he had sent me a proof set that contained a cameo 71 no S but it wasn't even close. As a matter
of fact the proof set had been cracked all around the edges and glued back together. Needless
to say it went back fast to the clown who sent it and I didn't say a word about the cracked case and neither did he. But I'll eventually land one once the prices settle down, possibly a Dcam in a 66 holder with a somewhat clean cheek would do for me. And please everyone, I'm out of work, so I'll have to pass on any offers.

Always glad to welcome a new Jeff homeboy into the fold! Jealous of your no-S ... Seriously, a great series, a great value and poised for a big move upward ... higher prices starting to surface with regularity on many proofs ...

Congratulations on your Jefferson additions. That 1971 no S sounds real familiar – I think that coin was part of my collection at one point - Nice Cameo obverse and DCAM reverse?

yes Frank at one time it was yours...its a real nice coin, im very glad you decided to upgrade image
Im sure the replacement is killer. I really am having and incredibly fun time with the Jeffersons.
For months I wanted to ask you guys what it felt like to really like one series. At that point, only organized
collection on my part has been statehood qtrs because I was there at the begining. But once the Jefferson bug
kicked in, I knew what it was to LOVE a series.

    thanks for upgrading Frank image

  • GQ: I'll second that!

The deal Monstavet and I worked out for the Kennedy's was awesome and easy to deal with!
Plus 3 or 4 coins were PQ for the grade and date!

    Monstavet: Thanks again,
