Professional Estate Buyers group is at my door...

Should I let them in? Actually , John Fern and his army of buyers are coming to a nearby hotel for 5 days to buy EVERYTHING. They have taken out a two full page ad in the Philadelphia newspaper. Anyone have any experience with them. They claim to be the largest coin & jewelry buyers in North America. Do I take the good stuff, the junk or should I not answer the door?

I know about 50 coin dealers who do this in various areas of the country. Before you go, make sure you get an 'offer' on your material from a couple of local and reputable coin dealers. Make sure it's an offer and not an appraisal. Then go and get an offer from the 'road show' people. You can negotitate a better price when informed. 80% of time, the road show buyers want to buy neat items, but the offers may be low. They will not buy your junk, since junk makes them no money. If you bring your 'good stuff', be prepared for a ridiculously low offer. If you have a price, name it and they will pass or play.

if $ is of any concern at all, it is FOOLISH not to get at least 3 offers.

why would you go and waste your time????????

anyway if you have coins you want to sell and know their values and know the coins and the coins are great coins with exceptional eye appeal even then you would be wasteing your time as you will get low ball offers

i mean why should they buy great coins from you if they can see greater stuff and offer people less money and they get accepted offers

and anyway if you did have great stuff and knew waht you had and the value you would not have to go there anyway!

so to make a long story longer do not waste your time by going there

Why waste your time? They aren't there to offer good prices.
