Why don't links open a new window anymore?

Is it just me...is it a problem on my end? It used to be that embedded links opened a new window. Now, it stays on the same window. I liked it the other way better.

    It depends on how people created the links. If you use the http link from the toolbar in the message window, it'll still open a new window.

    Hmm, are you using a popup stopping program? That usually does it.

    Mine pops up a new window - may be your settings on your end.

    Instead of clicking the left mouse button on the link, right click the link and select open in new window, this will work regardless of how it was created.
  • Thanks. Maybe my husband changed some setting. I'll do what LanLord says. Thanks!

    That's what I do at any site. It's just a habit I got into. For what it's worth, holding down SHIFT while left-clicking also will open the link in a new window. I prefer using the right-click menu, but some people like using SHIFT.

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Coindaughter's problem reminded me of something I don't understand. How do you get a jpeg to show in the actual post as opposed to being a separate link? I've noticed Russ does this a lot and I don't seem to be smart enough to figure it out. Boy, confessing inadequacies is tough. image

    Just type:

    {img} http://mysite.com/image.jpg {/img}

    Where { and } are [ and ]

    If you don't have your pics anywhere, upload them as an attached file, then copy the address from your post and use it as the image address.

    Isn't that what the image icon above does? I have never been able to insert an image either.

    I think it's probably your settings too. I am still getting new windows; now, even the attachments open in a new window.

    Some Sites that let you store images will not let you link to those images. Geocities is a good example. See if your ISP provides you with some online storage capacity. Most do.
