anacs to pcgs crossover

What are the chances of a anacs to pcgs same grade crossover on a random morgan dollar in ms??
I am asking this because of the large price differences in the certified coin greysheet.

I'm one for one so far. ANACS to PCGS MS65 Morgan. Like any other crossover, if the coin is solid for the grade it shouldn't be a problem. All of the ANACS slabs I own appear to be graded correctly.

I got an UPGRADE crossing from ANACS to PCGS on the one coin I did this with.

  • ok so far it looks like I will be resubmitting some of my morgans to pcgs before I sell them.
  • my personal experience has been that anacs to pcgs crossovers get 'iffy' at ms 65 and better.

We have had almost 100% of our tries cross from ANACS to PCGS. Grade to grade with a few higher and a few lower. ANACS has been a great service for us to use on buying large groups of coins at one time for grading.

How about for PL coins? I think ANACS has a less strict PL definition?

Higashiyama has a point. I am not "up" with PL or DMPL Morgans, as far as crossovers are concerned, but I have ALWAYS heard that anacs standards for those designations is a bit more lax than pcgs and ngc. Same with red and red/brown designations. I would look at coins with those types of designations with a bit more scrutiny if looking for a crossover. With that said, I am never afraid to purchase an anacs graded coin. I actually like to look at anacs slabbed stuff, as it can sometimes be had at bargain type prices. If you can pick out some properly graded coins, they should cross to any service. It's the borderline graded pieces that will give you trouble. Those are the ones you have to try and avoid. If they are common date Morgans you are looking to "cross", I wouldn't bother. They will only fetch so much, regardless of the holder.
