an email I received

Dear Valued Billpoint Member,

I am writing as a follow-up to an email from eBay, notifying you that eBay's acquisition of PayPal was completed last week. First and foremost, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your business, and to provide a few more details about how this announcement will affect Billpoint (eBay Payments) users. I would like to reassure you that the Billpoint service will continue to operate through the holiday shopping season, with some changes on how it appears on the eBay site.
Billpoint Service Continues Through the End of 2002

Billpoint's functionality, fees and customer support will remain unchanged through the end of 2002. While there will be a number of changes regarding the appearance of Billpoint on the eBay site beginning in mid-October 2002, including modifications to Sell Your Item, Item Listing, Search and other eBay pages, you will still be able to use Billpoint to accept payments both on and off eBay through the end of 2002. Beginning in early 2003, we will begin to phase out the Billpoint service with a full wind-down anticipated by April. In the meantime, we will continue to service your online payment needs and will work closely with you to make this transition as seamless as possible. You Have A Range of Payment Options

We realize that many of you already have a PayPal account. For those of you who have not tried PayPal, we encourage you to check out PayPal's easy-to-use service which is less expensive than Billpoint for most transactions. You can sign up with Paypal (just one page) and begin to accept credit cards and bank account payments immediately.

We want to emphasize that opening a PayPal account is your choice and Billpoint will not share any of your Billpoint information with PayPal without your permission.
Working Together Through the Changes

We will keep you posted on any additional changes to Billpoint (eBay Payments) and, in December 2002, we will provide you with the timing of future phase-out activities. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to use electronic payments, whether through Billpoint or PayPal. It is simply the faster, easier and safer way to pay and get paid on eBay.

It's been our pleasure serving you and the other members of the eBay community these past three years. The staff at Billpoint is fully committed to support your payment needs during the transition period. If you have additional questions about eBay's acquisition of PayPal or how this will impact you, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions. Our customer support representatives will be here throughout the transition period to assist you with any questions or inquires that you may have. Just contact us at customercare@billpoint.com or write us a quick note through our online help request form.

On behalf of the Billpoint team, I sincerely thank you for your support and understanding.
Regards.
