Alabama State Quarter to be first U.S. circulation coin to include Braille

News of potential interest to fellow forum members, according to a recent news article posted in the current edition of Coin Today online, the upcoming state quarter for Alabama, depicting Helen Keller, will include Braille, the first U.S. circulation coin with such a feature.     I think it is a neat idea, but the braile obviously is decorative. On another note, the story behind Keller and Sullivan is quite remarkable and inspiring. Not the way Hollywood presented it, but from the journals of the people involved.

    Whether you like the design or not, the life and story of Helen Keller is truly remarkable. What she was able to accomplish despite her handicaps is amazing. She is deserving of the honor. image
