this coin currently resides in a PCGS 65 holder and is a really nice 65+ on the obverse and a super nice 66! on the reverse
as usually is the case with mintstate barber halves the reverse is nicer than the obverse!
what makes this coin really special is the fully original undipped virtually untoned WHITE!!!!!!! surfaces.
this coin when viewed in person has MONSTER YES MONSTER cartwheel lustre that can
be somewhat seen in the photo. but sight seen this barber has EXCEPTIONAL EYE APPEAL!!
combined with being sooooooooooo high end for the grade and not only fully original undipped but white!
this is a gem barber half that usually doesnot come this way.
now some on here have mentioned undervalued coins well this barber is a rare sleeper and is way undervalued and this type of barber half in gem mintstate
has not moved in value within the last few years, just try to go find something like this coin
high end, white, original, undipped, full cartwheel lustre just like a morgan dollar and a very eye appealling, very hard to find! currently this would be the coin
to buy especially so looking like this as this coin has nowhere to go but up, or
this coin has little to no downside
the original crusty "skin" on this coin is really eye catching and many i think who understand a coin like this would apprecaite it greatly, as like i said above you usually do not see
coins with this fully white originality in gem business strike barber halves
currently this coin is in an eastern collection and has been personally examined by me and the above is my opioino of the coin
also this coin really doesnot exist in a higher grade and if it does it is extremely rare. so this coin is a GREAT! coin plus a bag of chips!!

You say "undervalued" yet I see no price or value stated. Undervalued how???
what kind of chips? I'll take some of those tostitos Lime ones.
nice coin!

I have noticed that about proofs, too. My icon coin is only CAM on the obverse, but definitely DCAM on the reverse.
Nice coin, there, as usual, michael.
I'll take Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream chips with that, please.
well coynclecter what i mean by undervalued is not so much what the coin is worth currently
but that the coin has not really apprecaited in retail price within the last two years! and also for their grade and population and actual scarcity in gem the gem barber halves in minstate trade for much less than other comparable desirable usa coins in the same condition with much larger populations!

This is yet another great coin! It is hard to tell from the scan but it looks like the cartwheel effect is being produced on a semi-PL die which is just starting to become satiny. What a gem! I think that you know that I really like the design on these coins.
Thanks again for posting such wonderful coins.
if i were to pull a guess out of my ass so to speak and i could be most likely wrong i would say that the coin is just satiny really satiny and with a monster cartwheel effect fully struck and also you can see a good cartwheel affect in the stars on the reverse also if you tilt this coin in a light the cartwheel affect is amazing!

A very original MS with great luster even on scan. I agree the rev is a step above the obv. Too bad about the bag marks on the face. Is the mark on the neck a planchet defect or another coin mark?

just for discussion, remove "barber halves" from the above statement and insert whatever coin/series you choose. don't you agree that price is determined by supply and demand just like everything else? if there exists a demand for a certain coin/series that can't be met the price would rise for what's available and if the supply exceeds the demand prices should fall.
if the barber market has been stagnant for the past two years as you suggest it would seem to mean equilibrium. the only other plausible explanation is that sellers...............
you've been posting some fantastic coins here lately. i'm sure i ain't the only one who'd love to get a look at the "eastern collection" that holds all these beauties!!

this coin is a really nice 65 and is only kept out of the 66 grade because of a super tiny reeding mark on the upper cheek otherwise a no brainer very nice 66 coin!!!!!!!
thanks for the nice comments keets!!! also you make some very interesting points i have not thought of but here is my twist on it
for me it is only demand and the only reason that the barber halves in gem have not apprecaited is that there is not the demand as with other series that are actually more common and more expensive in a comproable grade only being demand but that still makes them a better coin and at a less expensive price for me me they are undervalued, every dog has its day so to speak and this barber series in gem ms grades will also, and then to find a coin like this barber half in not only a really nice gem grade but alos white and otiginal fully original well to me extremely undervalued
supply has nothing to do with it
demand demand demand

I think your point is right on target, Michael. I have collected Washington quarters for over 40 years because I thought the keys were overlooked and undervalued. Then the State Quarter program changed everything. Like you say, "demand, demand, demand" and "every dog has his day."
