Is It Fair To Ask For More Then Book On This Card, If So How Much?

http://cgi.compuserve.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1864979120&rd=1

I got this lot off Ebay this morning . I mainly got it for the Reggie Jackson card, cause it's
his jersey number serial number 44/67. I was wondering if it would be fair to ask more in trade then
book cause of this and if so how much over book would be reasonable?

  • You can ask what you want for you cards. Beckett is just a guide.

  • People always say that Beckett is just a guide but really if you compare it to any other types of guides you treat the others like THE WORD don't ya? You don't go on a guided tour of the jungle and decide the guide is just that and wander about expecting to find your way where your going (at least not in any kind of timely manner) do you? I'm not one to expect over book on a card except in cases where a jersey is a patch and Beckett hasn't listed it as a higher BV right off since they often don't get to some of the sets right away so I list cards and await a collector of cards #'d 1, the last number, or the jersey number. Just my opinion and the way I do things like that. The only reason I list patch cards at non-guide prices is because I got burned by selling a few last year that patch pricing came out 2-3 months later on.
  • IT DEPENDS ON WHO IS BUYING, IT COULD BE VALUABLE TO THEM, HOPE THAT HELPS
  • Mike I liked a lot off your page... please e-mail me... at lilsun12001@aol.com or IM me on AIM at lilsun12001 or msn at lilsun12001@msn.com

    Thanks so much

  • Mike, for those who collect 1/1 cards price guides dont mean much. If you are looking for cash it is a special card and you should expect a premium price. Other examples would be if it had 4 or 5 colors or a special patch logo. Its a good card and the only one like it in the world! It should be worth more than a card say #12. Go by you gut feelings you cant go wrong.

Beckett prices are not very accurate so there is no reason to use them. If your "Jungle Guide" told you to jump from a cliff, would you do it?

  • Agreed, Beckett is just a guide. The real way of determining the value of a card is to monitor multiple copies of it on sale on Ebay.

Considering your Reggie Jackson card is a 1/1 it's impossible to use Ebay as a measuring stick.

Regarding trading it, I, like Vittleboy, would think $100 trade is a good price. A Reggie Jackson fan may give you more though, and a resale on Ebay may give you even more with the right Auction Title. The seller you bought it from should have sold the Reggie Jackson by itself with a title including #44/XX 1/1 etc...

  • I must be easily amused this morning...seeing someone get a bit offended by my first reply on the thread made me chuckle a bit...And, yes I would jump off a cliff if my jungle tour guide said to do so because it would mean there was a worse fate coming up behind me.
  • Thanks for the input, guys. So with the seller title (2 Color Alfonso Soriano/Reggie GU Jsy Crd#/67), I'm
wondering if Reggie Jackson's fans even saw it with him note putting his last name in the title.
When I get the card I think I'll Ebay it and see what happens.

    Thanks, Mike

    Who got offended?

  • Let us know how what the card ends up selling for ifyou try to "flip" it on Ebay.
