HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF AN 1994 "OSWALD KENNEDY " SILVER PROOF ?

I am new to the registry forum. Has anyone ever heard of an 1994 "Oswald Kennedy" silver proof? The die crack Looks as if a bullet is exiting Kennedy's neck and imbeds itself into the OD in the word GOD.The angle of trajectory is almost identical as to what actually happened and it is also to scale.

Yeah, it's a Kennedy half with a minor diebreak that some clown was trying to sell on eBay for 5 figures. Five dollars is more like it. Whatta joke!

    Let this thread die.

Wasn't this answered, in length, on the Coin Forum just a couple of days ago?

Hey, you discovered the Registry Forum. We're smart- but not any smarter than the regular coin guys who answered your question.

Oh no not again. BTW LORDMARCOVAN HAVE YOU NOT DEPLETED YOUR ARSENAL YET.I thought there would be different people over here that may be interested. The price has been lowered to the year the event took place.image

You couldn't have picked a worse place, KinCoin. Get PCGS to recognize the variety and have it graded in one of their holders. Then you might get a little credibility here. Don't hold your breath, though.

I try to "never say never", but my guess is that you have about as much chance of selling that coin here as I do of dancing the Nutcraker Suite while wearing a ballet shoe on one foot, and a rollerskate on the other, meanwhile carrying an anvil and wearing handcuffs and a sack over my head. And this is true even if, by some long shot, PCGS decides to humor you. Even if it were in a PCGS slab, the coin would still be overpriced. All you're doing is making a laughingstock of yourself, but I suspect you already know that and are just trying to be a pain in the @$$.

$19.63?? Still too much. image If you mean $1963, you need to go elsewhere to find a sucker. Anyone here who would be interested in such a thing probably has a better idea of it's true value than you seem to.

  • Well, if information is what you are looking for, you can get it here. Die cracks and breaks are not unusual in coins, even moderns, and are generally not given much of a premium to the price of an actual coin.

If such a coin exists, it would be priced no more than a dollar or two more than a regular BU piece of this date.

A proof coin can't grade as a BU can it?

  • You are right, I thought this was an MS coin. My mistake, however my assessment stands. Die breaks and cracks are a problem at the die level, and not the planchet level.

If I get it graded from PCGS then it is broken out of the PRESTIGE SET that it is in. It would no longer be a raw error correct?

  • WoW !!!

    This guys must be "SPECIAL"

On the lighter note .... Do you think you could reply to all people in one response?

    Thanks,

    Rusty.
  • Last time I checked, Prestige Sets hold little to no premium above other Proof Sets, are as raw coins. Even in the Prestige packaging, the coin is considered raw.

If you believe the error is rare, the best thing to do is to contact Fred Weinberg or Mike Byers and get their assessment of the piece. Either of those gentleman would be able to give you a true market value for the piece, and can be contacted from the Authorized Dealer page on the PCGS site.
