Bag textile toned JFK with strike thru??????

I'm not 100% sure bout this one but I think it's textile at the top of rev. Looks like a strike thru by the ear. Maybe not. In a slab and I can't examine it properly. What says the board?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

To me it looks like reeding from another coin hit his ear.

    2.)
Or a sliver of the reeding from another coin could have been struck into the coin when it was struck.
However, the picture is not that clear.

    3.)
On the reverse it looks like a finger print towards the top right side.

  • That mark is deja vu for me from an Ike I remember, I had a 1972 with a very similar mark (that would have been very valuable except for that one mark). I assumed on mine that it was a hit from the "corner" of a rim from another coin. Mine had a definite post-strike appearance, though. Can't tell on yours from the photo.

That pict didn't look like that on my desktop! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys. I think it is where the edge of another coin was smashed into it. Here's a larger & better pict of the areas in question:

  • I would say a strike thru as it does not have the look of a reed mark especially considering it is only a half. I have seen many reed marks on Morgans and they never had that look, as for the toning I don't think there is enough of a pattern to establish bag texture although it does kinda of look like it.
