At the libary today COIN BOOK GALORE

This was the first time in like 10 years i was there i wanted to check out thier coin book selection. well i talked to the lady at the front desk and guess what since the main libary is going through a 80$ million expansion they are going to be getting rid of some of the older books... i asked about the coin books and she said they will be replacing alot of them because they are old and out of date. Well i dont care i can see my libary expanding because of this some very good books in the group of abuot 1000 books image

  • Sounds good. Most public libraries have few coin books.

Wow- impressive. Our library (of which my Dad is the assistant director) is a very large one for the area, and it is the flagship branch of a seven-county system. But the numismatic pickings are a bit slim.

I did check out a 1965 Penny Whimsy the other day, though. I needed to attribute the awesome 1798/7 cent a detector pal of mine just found (and sold me). It's a Sheldon-152. Looks like Coin World is going to do a piece about the find. The coin is in amazing condition for a ground find. It has EF+ to AU details, and very little porosity for something that was buried 200 years.

  • A fellow on another thread came up with a great idea....donate to your local library coin books you no longer use. I buy some on ebay, when they are cheap, and donate them. Now i know where i can always find them!

My local library has very few books and most are out dated. I have 10 times the books in my own personal numismatic library. From time to time I have donated a few books. Yet they do seem to get the latest Red Book and Krause Standard Catalog of World Coins each year.
