I'm getting the urge, but don't wish to be impulsive...
In the meanwhile, I'll share a story about my dog that just happened:
Waiting for the A's-Twins game to come on, I fell asleep on my bed. I normally like to put my girl on my chest. She's half C{o}cker, so she quite comfy in that splayed position. A moment later, I fell asleep (for about 20 min or so).
When I woke up, she was still on my chest. At the barest sign of my waking, she tried to stick her tongue down my mouth. The French kissing thing is a bit much for me, but I do like it when she licks me.
She's my second love; the first one (a female Malte-poo) is with my ex-roomie.
i'll give a tip on cats----when they're young, if you hold them alot and have alot of interaction with them as far as talking and stuff, they tend to be more social and "dog like" vs. the normal aloof personality associated with cats. as others have said, females tend to be lower maintenance and unless the cat is going to be religiously indoors, NEVER declaw!! another thing about females is that they don't roam nearly as far as males. my two little women probably stay within 100 ft. of home base, their choice, not mine............on the down side, with females you'll have every male in the neighborhood visiting. as a result, spaying is a must-------i hate hearing people say "get them fixed" when nothing is broken----and i find it handy to have a Red Rider propped up by the door!!!! very effective out to about 50 ft.!!!!!
I have had many dogs and cats, and without a doubt spayed female cats are the best I've had. My present housecat is declawed on the front, but declawing rear paws are discouraged. It's unnecessary. My cat is still a good mouser without claws.
My barn cat is mean as hell and runs a tight barn. We get along great, but in a different way.
Three cats and three dogs for me, all adopted. The three cats are all brother and sisters, and were left me by their mother when a dog forced her from my yard eight years ago. The dogs, a lab mix that got in my car as I was returning from vacation was eight weeks old when she found me (no collar, fleas, hungry), and the other two came from animal rescue. They all get along very well, but the cats have no front claws. The litter pans are covered to keep the dogs out.
BTW - Did you know that the kittens born in a single litter can all have different fathers?

Had to get in on the kitty posting - if everyone can get past that name calling part -- Here's my baby -Silver Wayne. I was going to post here, but it kept coming out GIANT, so will provide link - don't want to miss this cutie pie. Wow, pic is big in preview too - don't know why - I reduced it and not big when I upload. Any tips???
