I Just Gave Away An '86 $50 Gold Proof!

Ok. Call me crazy but I just gave my son one of two 1986 $50 Gold Proofs I bought years ago. The occasion is his 30th Birthday (yesterday). I actually bought one for him and another for his sister and figured it was time to pass it on. Why wait until I'm dead? My daughter gets hers when she turns thirty. The only real gold pieces I have so I'm sorry to see them go but I can always go visit them. Right?

This is a wonderful thing. Why wait until they are old to let them enjoy such a thing.

I share lots of coins with my kids - they love them. Since they're young, I still give them the 64s and such, but usually interesting, silver, and sometimes quite old.

I bought my daughter and my son their birth year 100 Yuan China gold pandas. It'll be a few more years before I give it to them (probably after college).
