I bought out a fellow collector's silver a few months back, looked thru everything, then put it away. Bored out of my goard today I went back thru the Merc's looking to see if I could up-grade my collection. What I found is a 1924 double date. The whole date. A very pleasent surprise. Now I need advise/info as I don't see anything in the Red Book and am not real knowledgable about these. Any imput towards rarity/value would be greatly appreciated.

The Mercury series is rife with strike doubled coins; you could put together a complete set of them.

Thanks. Not great news but I wanted to know. Think I'll keep it anyway.

If you are looking for doubled dies in Mercury dimes, a good place to look is on the reverse at the stars. On doubled dies the stars will usually have notching in the two points that are parallel with the rim. I have found plenty like this over time, it seems 1941 is the most typical year. I don't currently have any photos of this anomaly available, but could take one and post it if anyone is interested in seeing it.
