c2it.com from Citibank looks like a great alternative to Paypal. Looks to be free transactions within the US. While not popular on eBay yet, this could bode well for our special "member to member" transactions. What do you think?
I've used C2it.com three times last month to pay for auctions I won on eBay. It was easy to set up an account and even easier to use. So far, I'm impressed with their service, and of course it was free to use (within the United States).
The next time I run auctions on eBay, I will include C2it.com as a payment option. I would like to see what its like from the seller's prospective.
The only problem with C2it is for the buyer. It will most likely show as a cash advance if you pay for something with a credit card and there are usually fees that go along with that. There is no problem if you use a debit card or link it to a checking account, though.
I have a checking account at Citibank. So I tried to open a C2It account. I was unable to after trying twice. I don't know what went wrong, I just got error messages. Rather than invest more time I just gave up on it. I may try again...
Paying by Credit Card will cost $2 to $3 more for each transation....I was shocked when I got the bill, and was over what I wanted to have in the coin... Gary

Paypal had the same "cash advance" problem when they first started. I'd check into C2IT again. Call them and your credit card company to see if you will be charged.
c2it owned by citibank owned by citigroup. I won't do a dollar of business with citigroup even though they are very hard to avoid with all of their slimy subsidiaries. I've had several experiences with them which would make TAGZ customer service look sterling.
I signed up last night and then called my credit card company. They confirmed that because of the merchant type that c2it gives, that any purchases made would go as a cash advance. I figure that I'll keep the acount to accept credit card payments, though. I have a buyer that stopped talking to me after he realized that "I can't accept Paypal payment that come from a credit card" meant that he couldn't pay me by credit card. Lol. Maybe he'll like this choice.
They say "We will not charge a transaction fee when you send cash to someone." Neither does PayPay but you sure get charged when you RECEIVE it. C2it does not list any info on this that I could find. It really chaps my a$$ when somebody pays me with a credit card which brings thousands of dollars in to my PayPal account which PayPal uses to make THEM money but charges me a fee for it. If somebody can show me that c2it does not do the same thing I will sign up for it.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
When PayPal or any merchant processes a credit card they are charged a fee by the credit card company. Instead of passing on that cost to the buyer (illegal in most states), they pass it along to the seller.
C2IT does not charge any fees for US customers that either send or receive money by credit card. It is 100% free. Same as PayPal used to be when they started out.
<< <i>C2IT does not charge any fees for US customers that either send or receive money by credit card. It is 100% free. Same as PayPal used to be when they started out. >>
And, you can guarantee that if C2IT grows large enough, they too will start assessing fees. The fact that Paypal charged nothing in the beginning nearly bankrupted them, and would have if eBay hadn't come along to bail them out. Citicorp is not that stupid.
Citibank is, of course, free to establish their business practices as they see fit. But, because I believe in the 2nd Amendment, and the right of citizens to conduct legal business in this country, I will NEVER knowingly deal with Citibank for as long as I live.
For further info, go to google.com and search "Citibank anti-gun".
Thanks for the information about CitiBank everyone. Time to add another company to the "I'd rather chew barbed wire while walking barefoot on ground glass than do busines with ..." list.
Anybody want to bet that CitiBank hasn't refused to do business with the US Government?
Actually, I have yet to find a large commercial bank I don't dislike (except Wells Fargo, for some reason they continue to treat me like a human being), so this addition is easy.
Thank you for your attention. The cat is taking his 3rd nap of the the day. He has about 4 more naps to go to meet his normal quota.
The point is Citibank should have never even had a policy like that! I think Companies should be politically neutral on gun issues. (The smart ones are!)

It would be great if this catches on. Paypal fees eat me up on big money sales. My partner just completed a sale at 1349.00 and the paypal fees were 42.00. It would be less if he would post a credit card number but he wont do it for some reason.
I got an ad in the mail to enroll in c2it last year. They initially charged you a cash advance fee on money transfers so I did not sign up. Althougth I used to have a checking account with them, it was only because they were located close to my office. I never saw any financial advantage to banking wtih them. As for guns, there has been a sniper using a high powered rifle who has killed six people in my area. I guess it must be human hunting season.

What would your slabbed coins be worth if the grading services went out of business? What would your coins be worth if the Internet was taken offline for good?
Speaking of PayPal and speaking of rotten customer service, avoid getting a PayPal Visa card through Providian- so far I have been vastly underwhelmed by their customer service (they suck) and they've blindsided me and stuck me with a nasty APR I didn't know I was getting into. (They sent out letters beforehand saying basically, "we're changing your rates and if you don't like it you can go fly a kite"... I think I will.) Fortunately my balance is small (just one charge at the dentist), so as soon as that's paid I'm trashing 'em. I should have gotten a card from my credit union in the first place... duh! What I meant to sign up for was the PayPal debit card, I guess.
As to guns and politics, I'm one of those dweeby antigun slightly-liberal types, myself. But you can bet I wouldn't be stupid enough to suggest anyone else give up their Second Amendment rights. I ain't that liberal. Guns, abortion, religion, politics. All subjects I usually prefer to steer clear of.
(Boy, I'll bet Citibank got a lot of hate mail over that policy, while it lasted... LOL)
<< <i>Please do NOT boycott Citibank. Some of us own their stock. >>
And others of us both own their stock and get a paycheck from them--- I suspect the policy change was part of an ongoing effort to consolidate the policies of the hundreds of Citigroup businesses around the world. This has been a major ongoing effort for the last several years---to make the policies of the Citi brand consistent in the 100 countries Citi operates in. Seriously, I doubt the loss of a few accounts had much to do with the change, but rather the ongoing effort to reconcile different policies of different acquired businesses. There are still well over 100,000,000 Citi accounts with or without the loss of "thousands".
That is the official Citi position - that the reversal of their anti-gun policies is a result of an effort to make their policies consistant corporate-wide. But I believe that their initial stance had to come from the top. They may have only lost 1000's of individual accounts over this, but it is more likely that the potential of a much larger backlash of losing major accounts, such as the State of Idaho is the reason for their reversal.
Large corporations will always try to have a hand in setting social agenda, but it's kind of scary when they discriminate against individuals and/or businesses that are exercising their constitutional rights.
Just ask the fellows on the coins we all collect...

From my experience with it, the service is fine. No problems. The biggest pain was verification which has to be done over the phone.
The next time I run auctions on eBay, I will include C2it.com as a payment option. I would like to see what its like from the seller's prospective.

Hopefully when they do charge fees they will be competitive to PayPal.
