To grade or not to grade?

OK, will I be blowing $12 a coin to grade a CVC Commem in PF and UNC, Olympic in mS and PF, and WP in MS and Proof? I figure that if they come back anything other than MS69-70 or PF 69DCAM I've wasted my money. Does this seem accurate? I've been trying to sell them raw but to no avail, even at below cost!

Also, should I spend the $12 at ANACS to have MS63-ish common morgans graded (1921, 1884O, etc) They look purty, but would grading common dates be a waste? I picked ANACS because I can afford the grading ($30 as a silver PCGS member is crazy for these, but I don't want to blow the $99 for the gold membership since I'll never get four coins worth grading for free)

Thanks all!

First off, you can send a coin to PCGS through dealers here... I know Michael Dixon does submissions... doing an NGC for me now and did a PCGS in June... that will save you some dough image

Also, look into the final cost, after shipping, of the commems... will they still be worth it? Also, you have to be sure they are 69s... there are a lot and something you can't see is likely to change the grade.

  • What a waste - I should have just bought old gold like i'm into instead of them darn moderns! Now I'm stuck with junk!
