Looks nice... but I'd expect better pics for such a valuable item...

russ those are two good proof sets!! good luck on ebay! i will be watching those closely!! and fantastic photos and descriptions!

the 37 is the hardest set to get original andby original i mean exactly as they came from the mint and stayed all togwther till now with the original toning matching on all the coins!! if you want to read a description of the current finest 1937 proof set that is a fully original set as it left the mint in 1937 go there now and "see" it !!

    sincerely michael
  • Are they really matched? I don't know but the sets seem pricey.

BTW '36 was not the first proof Buff. They made proof Buffs in 1913-1916.

In '36 they made both matte and brilliant proof Buffs. Perhaps he means the first brilliant proof Buff?

That 1937 Lincoln looks Cameo to me,and it's in an old holder(pre Cameo designation by PCGS).Did anyone else notice, besides me.Wish it had a better pic.

Carl, I believe that the seller meant the first of the two types of 1936 Proof Buffalo - a Satin or T-l Proof. I have been in touch with him by email and am currently high bidder on the set (there goes a so called "trade secret" out the window). But, my high bid is apparently below the reserve. I bid on the 1937 set as well, but it's currently higher than I bid .

Edited - but I'm high bidder again now.
  • Merz2,

That Lincoln does look nice but is that haze in the right hand part of the coin on the coin or from the slab?image

Thank you very much, Fred. I will be upping my bid accordingly. And, Carl, I apologize for telling you incorrectly, what I thought the seller meant!

I thought that was a reflection off the slab.I could be wrong. As most(who know),it is hard to tell Cameo from a pic.You almost have to see it in person.

The photo of the Lincoln on the page with the 37 set, is actually a 36.

I can't tell anything from the photos, but they are in the holders.
