Name your coin clubs

There are national, state, regional, local, and specialty coin clubs. Which do you belong to? A lot of newer collectors are here and you might attract some new members to a club they weren't aware of before. Post links if you got 'em!

Myself, I'm a member of the ANA and the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists (PAN). I also lurk at the Numismatic Bibliomania Society (people who enjoy/collect coin books).

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    I belong to the MSNS, the ANA, and the CSNS. The Michigan State show in Dearborn this Nov. is supposed to be a good one. I am going for the first time. Mark

    I belong to the Fly-In club. If anyone is interested in it, by all means contact me.

    I also am a member of the Liberty Seated Club. I will probably let that one lapse.

    S o far I am only a member of CWTS. But that is due to laziness. I want to join ANA, NBS and and NENA when I get around to it. CHRIS

    What is the Fly-In club?

    Do you collect coins with airplanes on them or is it a club for airplane pilots and has nothing to do with coin collecting?

    I'm thinking its a club for airplane pilots, but I could be wrong image

    I don't belong to any but the local club in Elmira, N.Y. is the Southport Coin Association. West of us in Corning is the Crystal City Coin Club.

    What part of Elmira do you live in? I live close to Ithaca. I have an aunt that lives in West Elmira. One of the houses next to the Strathmont mansion, which was bought by Tommy Hilfiger.image

    The Fly-In club is devoted to Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents. In fact, their webmaster is a board member here, whom I will needle for not participating in this thread. image

    The Fly-In Club: "Our mission is to gather and disseminate information related to James B. Longacre (1794-1869), with emphasis on his work as Chief Engraver of the Mint (1844-1869) with a primary focus on his Flying Eagle and Indian Cent coinage".

    The quarterly journal, Longacre's Ledger, is the best $20 a year I ever spent. Very well done by Rick Snow, it includes discovery coins not yet listed in his book, auction news & highlights, featured articles (new counterfeits, incredible errors, collecting specialties & strategies, etc..) including many images, and more. For connoisseurs of Flying Eagles & Indian Heads it's a must.

    PS: Thanks for the plug Kranky, I missed that. I just started hosting the site this summer and plan to make much more of the club's resources available there soon. The site's still in its beta stage. The trick is not providing too much info, that's what the dues paying membership get for keeping it going.

    I joined the ANA in 1996 and am a member of SLNA (Saint Louis Numismatic Association). We have monthly meetings and a 60 lot auction the first Friday of each month- pretty neat coin club.
    careful- that light at the end of the tunnel might be a freight train!

    I belong to the St. Marys county coin club in Maryland. We meet once a month it's small but it's a night out for me. I have been to a few meetings of the Tidewater coin club in Virgina but I now cain't make the weekday meetings due to working in Maryland. the Tidewater coin club is have its fall show this weekend in Norfolk Virgina, shopping timeimageimage

    I wholeheartedly agree with RJB on CONECA for error/variety collectors! They provide an outstanding and timely publication of their "Errorscope" magazine with consistent and especially definative (and FREE) updates on new & obvious variety listings. There is another club out there trying to compete with CONECA on rpms & double dies called NCADD but .... you better have a high power microscope and blind, forgiving imagination to agree with the brutally minor stuff they note/list as collectible! To each his own on collecting rpms & double dies but the quote "show me a picture" says volumes. Ask NCADD for a pic of ANY of their absolutely countless "new rpm tilts or other rpms" obviously in their system etc. for any date/ assistance and you'll hit a brick wall. Sorry for the ranting but NCADD has been a major waste of time and funds for far too long!!!

    I don't belong to any, as there is no coin clubs within 150 miles of where I live. I was thinking about starting one, but don't know how much effert and work it would be.
