Well Its Official

I received my NGC newsletter and they announced that they will now start holdering nicely toned coins reverse side out at their discretion, which I take to mean that not any coin will be holdered that way only pieces which have toning worthy (I know I have seen ICG coins that never should have been holdered reverse side out). The cost of reholdering current coins is only $4 which I believe is the least expensive of any of the major services. Its nice to see the services listening to the collectors and catering to their needs.

  • here is the message i received, from ngc. they will do it at your request

"Effective immediately, NGC will honor requests to put the attractively toned side of
a coin face up in the holder. Coins should be submitted on separate submission forms from coins not requiring the service. Also, the submission form must be clearly marked, "REVERSE UP." "

  • If you go down a little farther and read the whole announcement you will see it also has this at the bottom of the article.

Special Note: Requests to holder a coin reverse side up will be honored at NGC's discretion.
  • so if they think its ugly they won't do it. we all know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. i would not like them tellin' me no, it's ugly on that side.

If you sent a coin in that you thought the reverse toning was nice and the coin came back the regular way I bet if you returned the coin to NGC and asked them to reholder it with the reverse in front they would probably do it. I know it's a pain but it is a solution.
