Rainbow toning question - time?

nwcsnwcs Posts: 13,386 ✭✭✭
I'm curious, how long does it take a silver coin to tone a rainbow in an album or roll? I just got a raw roll of 1969D JFKs and I'm wondering what interesting toning may await me. And I'm also curious about setting up an experiment (long term) to tone a few raw washingtons.

Should add that the roll is original mint roll.

Many different factors to consider. It could take 6 months to get some toning to start or a few years. Even when they do tone no guarantee you will get nice colors, you might just get gold-brown.
  • I've got some beautiful toned Kennedys from the '70's and '80's. If they've been in a roll since '69 you've got a chance of finding some toned jewels - especially considering the silver content (as opposed to the clad ones of the '70's and '80's). Of course toned ones aren't worth anything above face value so you can send them all to:

I'll send you some beautiful green and brown toned paper to replace them. image
