Teletrade Kennedys

Has anyone on this board purchased any of the PCGS graded Kennedies this past Wed on Teletrade? If so, why so high on the bids? I bought one from that seller and found out he was the seller and returned the coin. The 1979-D sold for $525 and had a BAD haze on it, the 1990-P solf for $800!!! I paid $525 for a PCGS PR69DCAM 1969 about 3 months ago at an internet auction. I don't like the coins he usually sell son Teletrash due bad toning, dings, etc. If you're going to pay TOP dollar, it should be for a TOP quality coin. Remember, buy the coin, not the holder, especially at those prices. Just my opinion.

  • I thought it was just me (I was watching these coins) - but the bids seemed REAL steep!

There has been a lot of stupid money all over Teletrade recently. The last few auctions, everything on my tracking lists has been opening at or above what I'm willing to pay for the coins. The opposite has been happening on eBay. Realized prices are down quite a bit lately.

That seems REALLY steep. I've been selling off the dozen I made in the $200-$400 range. The $400 coin was super in every respect.

Its funny Russ, it seems to be hit or miss on a series. I know in the Monday Auction, there was a Kennedy I had my eye on, by 5pm it was way past my price. While I needed none of the Washingtons they were offering, at 8pm I took a look at some of the prices, and picked up about 10 at well below what they regulary trade for on ebay. Of course I bought them to sell, but now that they are in my hands it looks like more wasted money, they will never leave. Not much does despite my best intentions, just get so attached. Well one of these days perhaps I can find some way to part with a few, you never know.

Thanks Greg, I stand corrected. I bought a 1964 PCGS 69 DCAM Kennedy at auction about 3 months ago. I guess I better proof read my messages first. My 1969 was one that I made myself last year.

The '79-D and '90-P didn't appear to be very impressive coins, based on the photos. I hope they're better in real life, or else someone bought some very expensive plastic.

I completed the basic silver Washington set early this year, but prices are way down on a lot of them, and I've recently picked up some nice duplicates on TT and eBay for about half of what I paid a year or two ago. I still like certain dates, don't mind having duplicates, and am happy to lower my average cost on them.

    Today's auction was much better. Nailed a 1970 PR68DCAM JFK for $36.image
