I just got this buffalo Nickel in - 1916 - and it looks...I don't know...kindof grimy. It doesn't FEEL oily or grimy but it just looks dirty. There is a tremendous amount of detail on this coin - but it's BUTT ugly ![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif)
Any ideas on what to do with it to get it back to a nice shiny hiney buff would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. I tried mild soap and water - nada

From the pics, the coin looks corroded so, I don't think you did anything to hurt its value. What did you use to clean it?
I might have taken a chance on the before cleaning but I would not buy the newly cleaned corroded looking coin.
Did you use Ajax or Comet?
Joe.
