  • So weak you'd probably go blind even under magnification to find it.

ACG is so clueless it's funny.

  • I think you did the right thing bidding on it though. For that price it's worth a shot. I started to bid on it myself, when I noticed the high bidder!!!!image Good Luck!!

I'll bet it sells for a few hundred bucks, despite the holder...

He's got a 14-day return policy......shouldn't be hard to authenticate it --- may be worth a shot?

I'd go for a lowball, wholesale bid on it, maybe.

In an Accustink holder, there's no tellin'. IMHO they graded it correctly (surprise, surprise!). That just leaves the concerns about authenticity and potential hidden problems.

Still, it might be worth a (cautious) gamble. The fact that it's being sold by a large, well-known dealer with a published return policy takes some of the worry away. A little bit, anyway.

Sure would like to see a bigger picture of the MM area...

I sent one of these into ANA about 25 years ago... It came back as a 1901 P with damage in the mint mark area. I wonder if it is off the same die? Up close it looks exactly like an "S" and it is in the right spot. I would think it is an '01 Philly like the one I described!

I e-mailed the seller and asked if it has a number designation in Breen's (it doesn't).
