Need help on N.Y.

My wife and I are going to be in New York city on the first weekend of November. I would like to visit some coin shops in the area. I am staying down by the Chelsea piers, but will travel a little around the city on Monday. Thanks in advance for any help.

Aside from Stack's, there aren't any really prominent dealers. Go to Yahoo, Yellow Pages, select your location to be New York, NY, and search for coin.

Given the high prices of NYC real estate, there are rather few store-front dealers left in Manhattan.

If you've never been there, Stack's is a fun place to visit. You'll see a lot of high-end inventory and they're very friendly. Don't expect any bargains, though!

As far as the other NYC dealers, I've been in a couple of other shops - mostly overpriced and unfriendly dealers.

Actually, if you have a car, I suggest you go to the Parsippany coin show on Sunday, November 3rd. On a Sunday morning, it's probably about a 45 minute drive from the City. The show usually has about 80 dealers, with a wide variety of price ranges.

Jack; Altho I live in the NYC 'burbs, I can't give you any help in finding a coin store. However, all the hotels have yellow pages in every room and that should solve your problem quickley.

Many New Yorkers are rude. Just be prepared for that in the city. If you visit any dealers you might expect that also. Just a little tip.
