A caveat about a current eBay auction for a high grade Kennedy half.

Let me say first, that I don't have any real evidence that there's a problem here. This seller, who appears to have no coin history at all, may have actually lucked in to two of these right in a row. But, the hairs are standing up on the back of my neck, so I figured I'd better point this one out for anyone who may be looking at it:
1968 PCGS PR69DCAM Kennedy half.
No scans, no cert number, new seller and money orders only. Now, that in and of itself, might not be enough to make the alarm bells go off, BUT, he just had the same thing close a few days ago:
The first listing for a 1968 PCGS PR69DCAM Kennedy.
When the first auction was running, I eMailed him and asked for scans of the coin. He never answered. I've also eMailed him and asked for scans for the new auction. We'll see if he responds.
This could simply be a case of the first buyer backing out, and the first coin being relisted. I don't know. But, these don't come up that often, and bring pretty good money when they do, so I felt a cautionary note was in order for those of you looking for one in high grade.

If he would have responded to my request for scans, I'd have the cert number.

I just heard back from him on my request for pics of the coin. Of course the answer was that he didn't have any way to scan it. So, I asked him for the cert number. I'll see if he responds with it.

I will withhold judgement until there are "facts", so I don't offend. It sure looks like Russ has smoked one out in the early stages, by following the rule "If it sounds too good to be true . . . "

The auction should be for a 1969-S-PCGS-PR-69 Deep Cameo.I just sold a 1968-S PCGS-PR-69-Deep Cameo.I am 77 And getting old I guess.Sorry for the mix up.I am going to make the date change. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Could be just an honest mistake. Still not one I'll be jumping on, though.

That's the trouble with buying on Ebay. Unless you have a darn good idea who the seller is, it's just a crap shoot.
<< <i>could you just be making sure nobody else bids on it, so you can get a bargin??? >>
Now, that I think about it. Actually, though, since it's now a 1969, I'd be more likely to be interested in it, (if I wasn't the very suspicious type). I already have two '68's in 69DCAM, but only one '69 in that grade.

Actually if you want a 1968 PR69DC I've got one up on eBay.
1968-S Silver Kennedy 50c PCGS PR69DCAM
It's a nice coin. I had it in my Modern Proof Registry Set.
I bought it from Rick Tomaska of R&I. Need I say more?

Saw your listing but, as I noted above, I already have two in 69DCAM for that year.
