I'll hold back a week, but you're about to move down a square.

Actually it's just a friendly notice that he's not going to be #5 anymore, and thus won't be eligable to get a pedigree on his set unless he acts fast.

Rusty.
So I'm gonna get smacked back down to #6, eh? Oh, well. It's happened before. Top Five was good while it lasted.
I think I'll let it go, so go ahead and slap me down. I appreciate the heads-up, though- that was considerate of you.
I am thinking of selling my set, anyway, now that it is all matched up in the same grade. I've just kept this set up so I can have something registered. If I am going to sell, it's probably better not to pedigree, right?
Anybody interested in buying the #5 (soon to be #6, apparently) 20th Century Gold Major Design Type Set, all PCGS MS63? Hmm? I would ask for that week in order to list my set and hype it as a Top Five set on eBay, but not all the latest upgrades are physically in hand yet, and if I sell, I want to have good pictures attached to the set again.
I suppose if it doesn't sell, I can always battle my way back into the Top Five eventually, and get my name in lights, right? Assuming you heavyweights don't block out the sunlight completely...
OK. If it was something you wanted to get pedigreed to keep I didn't want to rain on your parade.
I still need another 64 and I'm having trouble finding a nice one. I have an lower grade (that I made) I may put up in the mean time but I may wait until I get a 64.
I didn't want you to submit yours only to find out during the process PCGS would kick it back to you.
The only pedigree I've paid a premium for is Eliasburg, so in my opinion a pedigree lowers the value because who would want a coin from "Joe's Collection" other than Joe?
I think a nice set of 63's is worth keeping regardless of the rank. I see the #1 spot is more then I'll ever spend - but you never know. Sets come and go.
And if you sell your set all you'll probably do is go buy more coins

How right you are. How very right you are. You know me too well. I guess we all have the same symptoms.
I think I am going to shoot for one or two single type coins, probably 19th century proofs. I'd like to use the money to buy a single "jaw-dropper" coin, perhaps.
If you aren't in a hurry to assume my #5 slot, let me keep it until the set sells, so I can truthfully hype it as a "Top Five" set. Then, when it sells, I will delete it, though the new owner will probably reregister it. #5 (or higher) will be yours soon enough.
Here's the B/S/T thread on my set, which is officially for sale now. I hope to soon get some pictures added to that thread, and to the set itself, perhaps by Tuesday or whenever the $10 Lib arrives.
I've been doing the same thing as you - to build a top 5 registry set and have it pedigreed and it was something that I planned on keeping. And I planned to register a set of 64's and then upgrade to 64.12
Dabigkahuna was around 63 but he upgraded a few weeks back to 64.12 so that only leaves one spot left that could be pedigreed which you now hold. I don't know what everybody else is doing - I haven't seen much movement other than him and you.
So if you want to get your set pedigreed by PCGS I can wait - as long as somebody else doesn't come along and blow me out of the top 5. The only issue with me is that PCGS drew the line at the top 5.
I think you should get your set labeled first and then decide if you want to sell it or not. I think a set labeled "Lord Marcoven" would be a cool thing. Maybe a legend will start that they belonged to and old English Lord back in the 20's. Or you could sell it individually and then see if you could gather it back in 5 years.
If you want to start the process with PCGS I'm sure they'll complete it once they accept it even if it gets bumped out of #5 while waiting for them to reholder it.
Or two people reading this will register 66's and both of us get kicked out of the top 5.

It's a moot point, anyway. I sold my set tonight, to someone who tried to buy it back when it was MS61-62. He prefers to remain anonymous at this time. I will be deleting the set in the next few days and it'll be out of your way. I don't think the new owner plans on reregistering them for a while; I'm not sure he plans to register them at all, though I think so. (He's probably holding back and will upgrade some of my stuff and drop a bomb on y'all later).
