    Best of luck all.
  • I second that motion. You guys and gals take care of yourself and don't stick around. Coins can be replaced, or loaded into the carimage It sure looks like it's going to be a nasty one when it make landfall.image
  • I also pass along my best to all who might be affected. I, however, am the kind of weather wacko who was THIS close to heading down there to witness Mother Nature at her worst..or best...like I said WACKO

    Thanks Guys!

That storm is bearing down on us here in S. Central Louisiana. We're already getting rain and wind from the outer bands and it looks like it's going to make landfall in the worst possible place for us...to the southwest of here.

Should be interesting by the early morning hours.

  • Lili is expected to hit land by Thursday afternoon. Already a category 4 hurricane. Looks like a second blow to that area in just the past few weeks. Some of the people who remember Hurricane Audrey that hit the Texas shores will know the huge storm surges that came from it.

For those in that area, batten down the hatches!

Unless it makes more of a north/northeast turn, we should be OK here in Biloxi... should be kind of Like Isidore for us; 50 MPH winds, some rain, small storm surge.

Good luck to everyone more in the direct path.

WOW!! That thing was a baby cane this morn about 120 mph, it's 145 now. I was on the beach all day, sun shinning, nice weather. Not like Isidore last week when it rained for 2 days before it hit. Good thing it's moving so fast and didnt have time to build up or it could be really bad. As long as it don't turn east or noreast I'm not worried about it and even if it does I'm not going anywhere. Probably be tornados all over here though. I'm on the bad side of it.

So far it looks like GSAGUY and The Dog are the most affected, besides Istsnotjustme and clevegreg who are out flying kites, could the former two keep us informed-----------------------------------BigE

itsnotjustme is actually closer than me. He thinks all he's gonna get is a little wind, rain & waves, like he did last week. image He's in for a wild ride. I wouldn't want to be in gsaguy's shoes tomorrow.

The storm has definitely taken aim for this area (Lafayette, LA) and should come ashore in the early morning hours. If I can get on-line, I'll keep everyone posted.

The last major storm we had here was Andrew in August of 1992. We had winds of about 125 here in town. This one may even be worse. Those big oaks all around the house sure make me nervous!image

Guys I have been in new home construction for about 20 years now. I worked the aftermath of Andrew 10 years ago here in Florida for 11 months and a picnic it was not. A nightmare to say the least. Get your family and get out of dodge load the trucks and don’t look back. This storm packs a punch that no one should experience first hand. Please trust me on this it’s not an 80mph hurricane party this is the real deal. Good luck to all that lies in her path.

  • Just heard they have found 225 MPH winds near eye. Having lived on Gulf Coast all my life, I would like to add my prayers to anyone in the path of this MONSTER! I am sorry that anyone has to go through this, but glad that it didn't go Galveston[way. If you are in the path, and you can - leave now while you can. If you do "ride the storm out" - you will never forget this experience. Lily is a BAD girl! The storm surge sounds horrific. I will never forget Alicia and Carla - and will never ride one out again.

YES, those trees can bend in some very strange ways - and it will look like they are going to fall right on you --- and they might. If you are in the path, I would find a closet or hallway and get all of your mattresses - or the bathtub with mattresses. Actually I have seen where there was nothing left much of houses, except the bathroom fixtures. Again, my prayers for all involved, and those who have families there. Be sure to fill your emergency water containers.

I remember cat 4 Andrew, tore up east Fla went arcoss to the gulf, brushed by me & hit La. Opal was cat 4 and almost got me in 95. Georges was cat 4 almost got me but hit Mississippi in 98. Took a direct hit from cat 4 Frederick in 79. Caught the edge of Camille in 69. It was a cat 5 with 25 ft storm surge. These 5 storms killed over 1,000 people. Took hits from a bunch of baby canes like Erin, Opal & Danny in the late 90s.
Stars are out here but I can see the feeder bands going overhead.
Lili is 145 peaking 180 right now. She's up there with the big boys.

Good luck all. We North Carolinian's sure wish you the best, particularly you, Gsaguy. A storm that size and intensity might give everything south of the 10 real trouble, and everything else in the area lots of damage. Some of those big systems stay together a long time. Stay safe!

Here'a picture of Isidore's waves at the end of the pier last week. This pier is about 15 feet above the water and extends 825' into the Gulf of Mexico. Can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow.

From watching documentaries on these things and when many had waited to watch this stuff build up and then why they lost their lives. I have a sister in Florida and a sister in law in that area, I'll tell everyone like I've told them, Just leave, get the hell out of there! But sometines it's tough to do so and having a place to go. I'm not wishing anyone good luck here.....just head north!

Looks like its on the same path Isidore took. Those poor devils in Louisiana look to get the double wammy
They,re saying a front or high pressure cell up north will draw Lili right up the central east coast areas starting from around the Lake Charles area and east.
Thats my CU board member weather report.Cam40 reporting...back to you...

Some good news for those in La-the eye has broken up somewhat and the winds are down to 100 mph and it hasn't even hit land yet. Storm surges are still expected at 20 ' though. It's getting kind of breezy here but I can still see patches of blue sky. Me & my men will be on the beach working until if & when it rains. If you still have power, good luck gsaguy, hope you guys don't get too messed over in coony country.
Here's a shot from a beach cam 5 miles east of me. There is usually 150' of beach in the shot: Beach Cam

Does anybody know if this storm is going to hit anywhere near Corpus Christi, TX? My parents are there for the week and I have no way to get ahold of them. image

Nice & beeezy all morning. Got a 5 minute rain at lunch & another at 2:30 and we went home then. Lili was a non-event here. Gsaguy probably has a better story.
