I supposed I could email Heritage this question, but I thought someone here who lives in CA may be able to tell me quicker.
I live in CA, and have purchased 1 item from Heritage. It was in their Signature Auction in New York. Of course, in CA there is a sales tax on coins bought under $1000, and I was charges sales tax on this. My questions are:
1. Is there sales tax (under $1000) for items bought in the exclusivly internet auctions.
2. Is there sales tax (under $1000) for items bought in the "Last-Chance" section AFTER the exclusively internet auctions are over.
3. Is there sales tax (under $1000) for items bought from them using Buy-It-Now (non auctions)
Thanks in advance,

Yes to the first question, and you have to pay attention because they charge sales tax at the Texas rate of 8.25 percent, which if you live outside LA county is half of a pecent higher.
Second question is probably yes although I haven't bought any last chance items yet.
Third question is no. Because they are based in Texas, when you buy coins from them, it's like buying out of state. The reason you have to pay California sales tax on auction items is becasue they have an auction house in LA.
Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
Thanks for the answers. It seems to me that maybe you don't have to pay sales tax on Buy-It-Now type purchases, and I would think that would apply to the after auction Last Chance stuff as well, since techinally it isn't an auction then, but I guess maybe it is their Auction group selling it, so who knows! Either way, the CA tax sucks!
