    You wouldn't think it would need repair back when it was that young - even if anybody thought to do so. I think this seller may be fibbing.

    I looked at the sellers other auctions.
    All acg pci. The locaiton's are interesting.

    I hope what he meant by his statement was that it was common practice to "damage" these big coin back then. Some where even used as teething rings for infants. Others were decorative and some where rim filed to gather some of the silver.

    Common to damage them- the repairs, of course, came much later.
    It would still be a cool coin to own- at a cost- due to the detail remaining.
