Eagle Brand Slab Boxes - Anyone use these?

I just purchased two Eagle slab boxes. These are gray plastic with a silver/gray felt like interior. Are they safe for slab proofs?

Eagle Slab Boxes

Anyone have any experience using these long term. I don't know how long they've been out, but I am curious to know whether the material might have some impact on toning or degregation. The are made from polystrene. My coins are blast white and would like to keep them in their current state.

Thanks

Michael

  • FrattLaw,
I use them and also the boxes for 2X2"s. I have used the slab boxes for several years with no noticeable change in my coins. The only problem is they do not fit all slabs...ANACS slabs flop around in the ones that hold PCGS and NGC coins firmly.

  • We highly recommend Eagle products in general. If you decide to use their 2x2 plastic holders for un-certified coins, it is an excellent idea to put a dot of glue in each corner of the holder prior to sealing it so it will not inadvertently open.

  • The ANACS one is OK

I've used the slab boxes for about five years with no problems. Jadecoin is right about the plastic 2x2's. I have also used a pair of pliers to better seat the corners of the plastic 2x2's.
Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.
