great news for me.. maybe

Well my dad and me went to the coin/jewlery shop and while i was drooling over some ms-67 walkers my dad was talking to the owner who was also talking to an inventer. the inventer and the shop owner were trying to figure out how to make there own measuring device to measure large fingers to make rings for. my dad threw out an idea and they thought it might work the owner said that if it works he will let me pick out a 1 of my favorite coins in the shop... to bad there are no draped bust half-dollars but there was some other nice stuff ( pr-66 seated liberty half slabbed by NGC that might go CAM, MS-66 BN braided hair large cent, au draped bust half-cent, some nice gold indians) ! what would u pick of the 4? ( P.S indians were MS 60-65)

I third it... there are a lot of RD MS large cents available, as well as the half cents (LOTS of them in higher grades), and the gold... the seated liberty sounds like an incredible find... wanna say that we're related so I get something, too (so the owner doesn't think he is leaving me out)???

I wish you the best of luck... you might be counting your chickens before they've hatched.

  • KK - sounds like somebody's pulling your leg (but I hope not).

Most jewlry shops have a series of measuring rings that customers use to determine ring size. Even the simple use of the cut out ring guide in the Sears and JC Penneys catalog has worked for years. I'm a subscriber to the KISS method but perhaps I missed something in your post. How do you make these current methods more simple or exact? Good Luck! Dave
  • nope i pretty sure hes not kidding because he told my dad that if it works i can pick my favorite coin.. and this is for extremely large fingers they dont make them to big and out here there a quite a few big people image the inventer person and the coin shop owner might sell them to jewlery stores he evened metioned something about making them at 50 cents and selling at $2.50

  • Sounds pretty suspicious. I worked for a jewelery store for 5 years. They already have gauges to unimaginable sizes. I hope he isnt toying with you guys.

I think your dad is gonna get the short end of the stick, if all goes in the jewelers favor. I certainly hope your dad made some other deal past the coin.
