Its hard to tell with such a low quality photo but some of the letters in the word DOLLAR don't look quite right. But the numbers in the date do seem to match the real one.
IMHO, it's a bad piece. Just check the alignment on the obverse of the 'A' in states and the first 'A' in America with the headdress and juxtapose with the genuine piece that LW put up.
I saw this when it first came on and considered bidding if it stayed low enough. It appears to be a modern counterfeit, and is probably made of good gold. The bidding right now is the highest anyone would want to pay, as you're hitting the value of the gold. He says three dealers have told him it's bad. Believe him when he says it's fake. 1873 $3
