this guy is so underrated and is on the verge of becoming a star in fact he made his first as appearance last yr so i guess we can say he is a star. he's quickly becoming one of the leagues elite pf's by lightning and storm.

yet, where are all the jermaine o'neal collectors?

Could say the same for Antonio Davis, and other players......But some people just don't get hobby love....Look at McGrady for instance, seems like he is definately one of the most popular players among collectors, but his cards are much less than Vince, Iverson, Kobe, Garnett? Why is this? Shouldnt he vie for favoritism with Kobe, Vince, etc.?

Jermaine O'Neal is a decent player, but if he played in the West he wouldn't get the 18ppg- 9rpg he gets now...

The guy has two offensive moves.

1- 15 foot baseline jumper
2- dunking the ball and screaming

he's a decent shot-blocker, but he hasn't really reached his potential yet... needs to become a better free throw shooter and develop some low-post moves

Yep, i have to admit, I dont like Antonio Davis, but he does well for the Raptors and is seeing all-star game weekend every season now

Martin has many post moves, including::

1- jump hook
2- he faces the basket on the baseline, and uses his long arms to lay it in
3- jump shot with a range of 10-18 feet

also, Martin is much more of a slasher than a post player... If you were watching the Net playoff games carefully, you would see that many of Kenyon's points were scored on drives to the basket, using his left hand.

Since the Nets run a priceton offense, with many back cuts, Martin does not have as many post-up oppourtunities as O'Neal has... In addition to this, the Nets had 7 players averaging 9 points or more per game in the 01-02 season... This means that no one player will get very many FGAS...

Martin's FGA per game: 13.2
O'Neal's FGA per game: 16.7

Now to address Martin's suppoused lack of defense..

Jermaine O'Neal in the first round of the playoffs against the Nets averaged 17.2 points per game.
let's take a look at his Game by game ppg

Game 1: 30 points
Game 2: 12 points
Game 3: 12 points
Game 4: 14 points
Game 5: 18 points...

During the games which Kenyon Martin was guarding Jermaine O'Neal, O'Neal scored a mere 16 points per game, 3.4 points below his season average.

His FG% during those 4 games was 21/51, OR .411%. During the first game of the series, his FG% was 13/24, or .541%
In addition, he fouled out of game 5 right at the end of regulation... that doesn't sound like a Star to me..

After the Pacer's loss in game 5, Reggie Miller said "The difference in the series was that their (NJ's) young guys stepped up, and ours didn't"

not really..he has a nice turnaround j u never saw.

and he really gets down in the paint and bang w/ the other players unlike kmart. come on man, do u rellly want ur center/pf shooting j's??? and not just shooting j's, he's not even hitting them!

and about free throws..is 68.8 (almost 70%) really bad for a guy that's 6-11??

but if u guys are in kmart for the $$$, i feel sorry for ya.

First off.... I collect Martin because he's on my team, not because of any "beckett" or "investment" value his cards may have..

martin's facing the basket move isn't describable, but if u were watching the boston series, you would have seen it many times..

I see you've dropped the "Where's Martin's defense argument"... Kenyon Martin doesn't bang in the paint because he normally guards the other team's best offensive player, unless that player is a point guard

vs Orlando he guards mostly TMac
vs Boston, he alternated between Walker and Pierce
vs Indiana he guarded O'Neal
vs Toronto he guarded Carter

since most of the best offensive players in the East play at the 2-3 spots, that is where Martin plays defense.... and because of that, he is not in the paint to bang around..

With the departure of Van Horn, that might change, as Richard Jefferson has the potential to be an amazing player, on both ends of the court, and I suspect during many games this year we will see him playing the player Martin would have defended last year. Don't be suprised if Martin's RPGs increase as a result of this. ....
