Question about PCGS Economy Service...

It’s $15/coin for non-gold coins valued at $300 or less. Does that mean $300 or less according the PCGS price guide, which I’ve heard is way off base for some series? Has anyone ever had a coin returned not graded because it was valued at over $300? How strict are they with this policy?

I think people have gotten away with it by thinking their coin is one grade lower and being "surprised" The PCGS price guide is actually the CU price guide and not what PCGS uses (as stated in Q&A forum)... don't ask me why, it just is!

It is based solely on whatever value you decide to assign.

  • Actually, an economy coin is what the submitter would value the coin when graded at below $300. PGCS can be very tough on submitting higher value coins with this service and several submitters I known have been billed for a higher submission level when the coins were of higher value or quality than reported. It may pass through or may not, and PCGS will sometimes hold up delivery of a package until the higher invoice is paid.
