Mr. Davalillo seems to have had an effect in the Kellogg's World

I have been catching up on the close to 300 emails that had piled up while I was on my religious pilgrimage to the temples of Las Vegas, and low and behold, there were a couple from some dealers that prior to now, had never shown any interest in this vintage set. Without naming names of course, they all mentioned that they had a "very good customer" that was looking for 10's and could I help as I was the "crackless pusher".

Ah, little did they realize that I had not fallen off the farm truck.

An A+ is to be given to Davalillo for taking this task to heart and beating the bushes for Kellogg's and giving this set the serious consideration that it is due.

However a failing grade must be given as, despite the bravado shown and the "ease" of which he spoke in assembling the set, we still have yet to see anything on the registry.

Okay, I'll fess up. He did contact me also and we worked out a deal. I will be sending him my un-registered PSA 10 set later this week-end. Sorry Zardoz and Gemmintman image

Well, I think gemmintman and Zardoz have 95% of all the 10's available between them. I think it will be difficult for Davalillo to even enter the top 5. He's got to pass me before getting to Zardoz and gemmintman, and I just happen to have a few 10's myself image

    Guys,

The only possible way I can see Davallio coming close is possibly moving to michigan haha..

I see tons of this stuff here yet not 70's.

Zardoz do kelloggs have uncut sheets or is my memory wrong.

Obviously, I have limited experience in these cards. I have only seen 1 card in person, that zardoz sent me...obviously to try to get me hooked image But, I have resisted the urge on this set because of one major gripe I have....

I still think Kellogg's need their own size slabs developed!!

For example if you have seen a 75 mini "floating" in dismay versus one in the correct holder it's night and day to me for value, display, and protection. I know you get a sleeve to prevent it sliding around, but to me that is not good enough. Many cards in this floating state have the dreaded tilt within the holder? To me the card is now (OC) or even diamond cut within the slab, if you will. I may be among the few but I would pay premiums to start collecting Kellogg's cards in their own size holders and/or pay a nominal fee to re-slab existing cards.

I apologize if this offends anyone collecting these cards, but an "upgrade" is needed here IMHO.

I have seen an uncut sheet involving 1973 Kellogg's (in fact I think I have one if anyone is interested), but I've never seen one from 1970 or 1971.

FACT: Davalillo stated that he was collecting the '70 Kellogg's set, and yet we see no physical evidence of such collecting via the PSA Registry even though we already "welcomed" him to the Kellogg's Karnival.

FACT: Davalillo has engaged in and is conducting a clandestine operation to overthrow Zardoz and Gemmint, the Johnny Appleseed and Pied Piper of the 3-D world, from the top two spots in the Registry, via the employment of 3-D dealer operatives in the secondary card market.

FACT: The above comments are in direct contradiction to one another, but should be taken seriously nonetheless.

Kurt, the cards hardly move. You have to tap the slab very hard on a surface to get the card to move. You're the only one with this complaint. Now get in the 3-D game already!!

  • Options
    Kurt,

GEMMINT Sold a complete 9 set for $2500.00 but I doubt it would go that low today my guess would be it could go substantially higher ... probably somewhere north of $3000 . As for the 8's there is not much of a market for them my guess would be around $600.

Ive been sitting on the outside smiling at the 3-D Karnival and wanting to participate but I cant pull the trigger when I am forced to realize once again that childhood trauma is sometimes the hardest to overcome.

It brings back the painful memory of having to buy my OWN box of Corn Flakes (a week's allowance that could not be used for 5 cent packs) and after anticipating pulling a Mays, Clemente, or one of a handful of my beloved Cubbies out of the box, I pulled a .................Coco Laboy.

Since that time there have been brighter days, but I always remembered that.

Does the Kool-Aid man offer therapy sessions? Does the chanting help? Any suggestions?

Well, all this excitement got me searching so I rounded up all my '70 Kellogg's that looked 9 or better and submitted them today. It was a total of 78 cards, including 5 Horlens (that darn diagonal crease on the upper right side of the card eliminated half of mine from submission) and 4 Carlos Mays -- also 4 Rick Reichardts (the fourth toughest 9 after those other two and Tim Cullen). I have absolutely no intention of ever collecting this set but am happy to contribute to the addictions of the afflicted and figure to use these as shiny trade-bait lures to pry valuable cards from the catatonic cultists.

I'll let you know what comes back, and I always appreciate contact from anyone who can help me with my PSA 9 quests for 1887/88 Allen & Ginters, 1954 Red Hearts, 1963 Fleer Baseball, 1954 Bowman FB, 1955 Bowman FB, and 1960 Topps FB.

Thats how I started. I had a rose and everynight from the little shoebox he was chanting. Zardoz/Koolaid/Gemmintman/. And then finally when you find were the chants are coming from he looks at you with his little 3-d eyes and says just 74 more. The only way to stop the chant is to give into the diamonds. Then you are in the brotherhood. Welcome my brother we toast you with our koolaid jugs. See Jim thought it was the thrill of knocking off the king but it was truely the chant luring him in.

Well, first of all I am being given too much credit for driving up prices/seeking psa 10s. I have been travelling the past 2 weeks.
Second, the sad truth is my quest to get to the top will have to be put on hold. I am at my financial limit this year. The securities/investment banking business is having an awful year and its not the sort of year to overspend my budget. It is costly trying to do over 90 vintage sets in 8 or better.
Lastly, I am in this with the sole desire of reaching number one. This set certainly needs a new leader and even more so needs a new number two which I think gemmint is well suited for as long as he realizes that all the rules in collecting Kellogg's will change. I don't think I overpromised and underdelivered over the timeframe it would take to knock off gemmint. He has an impressive rating. But it will have to be a 2003 endeavor unless my suppliers are willing to put away 10s for payment on 1/02/03.
Sorry gemmint, but I will not post this set until I reach the top or at least am within a couple cards of it.

You have just desecrated the Kellogg's leadership, a leadership which has provided fun and well being for all. A leadership which has brought this incredibly unappreciated set from the depths of the card room abyss to the pinnacle of the 3-D greatness it so rightly deserves.

<< <i>Sorry gemmint, but I will not post this set until I reach the top or at least am within a couple cards of it. >>

I would put my money on the gemmintman. My guess is the best Davalillo could do is tie gemmint.
I'm confident that betting on gemmint is close to a sure thing here. In fact Davalillo should do the
same. It would be a better return than the market right now and it would help him in completing
