pcgs pf 65 1867 original toned really a 66/67 coin no hairlines or nicks but medium toned and that is the grade limiting factor
ORIGINAL TONED but on the obverse being the side that was up in the cabinet or case the coin had a cloth lying on it and so the toning was not as clear as on the reverse a truly amazing never touched original coin! the colors are very nice and this coin took a long time to get this way and have a thick opriginal skin unlike a dipped stripped proof coin and then retoned with the retoning taking a much shorter time where the colors just lay on the surface!
a rare coin with this type of toning and not too light but not too dark either usually these earlier proof halves are either dipped and ugly hazy white or so deeply originally toned that they are a blue black and you can hardly see the mirrors! this coin should be in a 66 holder and has incredible eye appeal and in the 66 holder it would still be hi end for the grade! this is a coin worth moreout of the holder than in the holder!

I love the blue coloring in the center of the coin. I am not a fan of toning, generally, but this one is real nice. Thank you for sharing.

There is no longer a need to warn us about drool buckets. When I see a post by michael with the word gem or superb in the title I know to get ready!
Another great pic of a superb coin. I assume from the "Eastern Collection".
super rarew as they are white original coins with no dipping cleaning whatsoever even rarer than monster toned coins@ i can explains the reasons for this also when i can send the coin image to brian for reformatting!
iwill have to get brian itsjustnotme to reformat the scans so they fit on here and then write a description

I really could lose my head over something like that. Really, I could.
The reverse on that...
Well, words fall short. "WOW" is all I can say.
