How nice to be back in the Top Five, even if only briefly! And on a gold set, too! (A small gold set, to be sure, but gold has a certain aura of respectability, right?)
Lord Marcovan 20th Century Gold
The upgrading to MS63 continues; only the $2.50 and $10.00 remain to be upgraded to have the entire set in MS63. I see Larry has been busy, too, and while I'm right below him now, I doubt I'll be catching him any time soon.
It will be a pang to part with my little ex-RARCOA MS62 $2.50 Lib, if only because I think that is my only coin in the set that is really PQ for the grade. It will be for sale as soon as I find a suitable MS63.
The $10.00 Liberty is my #1 upgrade priority right now, especially since it has always been the only MS61 in the set. It was formerly an ANACS MS63. Certainly it has the relatively mark-free surfaces of a 63. What probably hurt me there was the gentle cleaning I gave it before crossover- it was grungy and needed a bath, so I treated it with some diluted Jeweluster in the worse areas and left the rest alone. At least it didn't bodybag. I think it deserved a 62 at the least. It too will be for sale soon.
As I upgraded my $5.00 Liberty to MS63 last night with a 1907-D, my old 1900 MS62 is for sale now. (Edit: sold. Now the $2.50 Lib is for sale.)
I have temporarily deleted the pictures on my set for overhaul, but here are the three I just mentioned (the usual apologies for poor scan quality apply). These are pics from my old Modern Type Set.
1902 $2.50 Liberty, PCGS MS62 Premium quality for the grade, in my opinion-nice luster. Ex-RARCOA, purchased at the 2002 FUN show. For sale.
1900 $5.00 Liberty, PCGS MS62 Sold.
1901 $10.00 Liberty, PCGS MS61 (ex-ANACS MS63) For sale soon.

untill I realized I did'nt do anything wrong. I used to like to finish a set before I posted it, now I post it when it is 50% done, because I know some people get "all shook up", when a set appears, seemingly out of nowhere. I am happy to be able to respond to the boards now that I finally broke down and bought a computer. I just have to learn how to use it....................ZERBE (Paul Taylor)
Welcome. I am very glad you got a real computer. Now I know who to ask when looking for opinions on high grade gold.
Zerbe- I'm glad you are able to join us now. Are you the ghost of Farran Zerbe, by any chance? When I saw that name, I thought, oh, great. Now I'm really gonna get beat up on the Registry.
Geez, who's coming in next? Eliasberg? Norweb? Trompeter?
Actually, I quit calling you a bully after the first day or two. I just call you "the Big Fish that jumped into our little pond". There. That sounds better, doesn't it?
I enjoyed my few hours in the #4 slot before you made your big splash, you big bu- umm, fish. I didn't expect to stay there long.
Do hope you'll join us now that you are properly computerized, unless the frustration of learning to use the thing drives you mad. It did not (and still does not) come naturally for me, but I learn a little bit at a time. Now I have decided I need a website. The eBay page linked to below was good enough for me for a long time, but I am ready to branch out and start selling cheap to medium-priced world coins online. Trouble is, I have no idea how to create a web page.
(Well, I guess I just graduated from minnow to perch... for the moment.)
And won an MS63 1907 $2.50 Lib tonight, so all I have below MS63 is that dang MS61 $10 Lib, which is pulling my set down like an anchor. That's OK, though- it will be upgraded soon. Sold my old $5.00 Lib and guess I have an MS62 $2.50 Lib to sell, now.

I have met with lordmarcovan and he will be around longer either of us.
Dang everytime I type your name Zerbe I keep thinking of 1921/1922 silver peace dollars. Why is that? Hmmm. Loose connection there somewhere.
