Seller's Remorse

To all of you who sell....

Do you ever have seller's remorse, or just are sad to see your coin go away?

Maybe this is just because I've got the collecting fever, now that I've been learning so much, starting at square one and learning a lot in a couple of short months. But, I debated and debated about putting our roll of Franklins on ebay (I started a couple of discussions about them here to help me make a decision). I finally did put them on eBay. All day yesterday I was thinking, "Do I really want to do that, or do I want to open up the roll and see??!" Trying to figure out a way to honorably end the auction if I really wanted to keep 'em.

Gee. I'll hate to see Ben go. At least it is my sister who will be packing him up, and I won't be there to say goodbye. Sniff. image

As the sell you have the right to end an auction early. Just cancel all bids, end the auction early... Then you can check those Bens out!!!image
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    CD,

I've just about quit selling. I regret almost every one I've sold. I wish I had them now.image

seller's remorse? he11 yes! i've sold quite a few nice coins in the past 20+ years. however, i can look at my collection now and think of where it started out, and there is more pride in the ongoing process then if i had just bought a coin and held it for 20 years.

sell your coins, but keep only a few of the best 1's for yourself. then, reinvest the proceeds into a few more coins that you really, REALLY like!

    you'll be glad you did.

I only miss my 1795 ANACS P1 half dollar. Should of kept it (got it on Teletrade about 4 yrs ago).

True uncirculated 1955 halfs should be able to get at least $7 ea. even if they are just ms60 no full bell lines. So if you don't get at least $140 for a $10 roll by the auction ending time I would end it.

If I were in your position and didn't have to sell all the coins to settle the estate I would at least keep a few of the ones I liked.

Yes! I have sold off many of my nicest Barber halves from my core set and I still curl up into the fetal position and sob uncontrolleably when I think about itimage

  • Certainly I've had sellers remorse.
I just try to make the best decisions I can and live with them.
If you don't need to sell, don't. There's always another day.

This is one reason I rarely sell. I only sell a few coins I'm not too attached to. Like bulk silver.
