Howdy,
If you remember a few weeks ago I posted about shipping companies and was supplied a link to insure mailings. If you don't remember, I DID!
Now, they only insure priority mail, which it mucho expensivo in my opinion. Does anyone here know of a company that will insure first class without me going to the PO, which is REALLY out of my way (as in two miles at least, one very uphill, by foot)? I want to put a 37c stamp on the padded envelope (or more depending on weight), click "place order" at this website, and have the package magically insured
If you can give me any help and same my muscles from unnecessary growth, please post below.
Thanks!
Jeremy

I'd like to know the answer to this, as well. I'd like to change my cost structure for insuring my shipments.
you're gonna have to be able to prove that the package went out the door and was properly packed. once you solve that problem someone will insure it.
Edited to add: if you think about it priorty mail isn't that bad because you can use their boxes, padded envelopes etc. I like this service.

Anyway, I use Priority Mail for all of my shipping because of the distance. It is traceable, i.e. Delivery Confirmation, and insureable. Packages weighing more that one pound must be given to the clerk at the PO or handed to your letter carrier. I'm not sure if you can hand insured/delivery confirmation material to your carrier or if it MUST be presented at the PO. Either way, somebody has to acknowledge receiving it from you to effect your insurance coverage.
Yes, it's slightly more expensive printing your own postage. Each person has to figure where there money is better spent - a long drive and/or long line to/at the PO or the few extra cents to print your own postage at home to hand to your letter carrier. Dave

And the insurance is included in the cost of UPS - not sure about Fedex. (Found them a little higher for larger pckgs.) A little bit more of a hassle to collect, but not really too bad.
I'm sending you a PM on the carrier I use and a contact. It does not have to be Priority Mail.
