Come on admit it: Has anyone here ever had a $100.00 One Day Walkthough Bodybagged?

One cool deal with this forum is we can admit our defeats, our failures as readily has our scores and successes. Right?
Has anyone here ever had a Walk-Through bodybagged? If so, what was the coin and what was the reason?

Yes, two coins that I remember:

One was a gorgeous toned pattern coin that I thought was a 65/66 liner. NGC no graded it due to questionable color and PCGS graded it 66 the same day.

The other was a Roman Finish proof $10 that I thought was a 66. It no graded at PCGS due to "altered surfaces" and graded PF64 at NGC - We quickly sold it to a knowledgable dealer who paid between 65 and 66 money for it, knowing it had no graded.

There might be others I can't remember (perhaps because the memories were too painful and I blocked them out)..image

coinguy1, I remember one of the instructors at the Advanced Grading class hinting that there could be a slight advantage to having a coin graded via walkthrough. Do you happen to remember the story that Bill told about the gold coin he cherried at a Long Beach show in a very early 65 slab and got regraded on a walkthrough? (I don't want to spoil it by guessing at the parts I can't remember.)

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Kranky - Unfortunately, I don't remember the story Bill told or which instructor mentioned that he thought there was an advantage to submitting walk-throughs at shows. But, I firmly believe that your odds are better submitting coins through same day service at major shows.

Yes, about 10 years ago. A proof $20 Liberty that was cleaned. I knew it was cleaned and purchased it as such, but it was so rare that it should have been slabbed.

The coin later ended up in a PCGS slab. I believe they graded it PR62.

However, I think it was more than $100 to do the walk-thru. No big deal. I think I flipped the coin for a nice profit. I had one other walk-thru bagged. I guess I blocked out the pain because I can't think of what coin it was. When the tears clear my eyes maybe it'll come to me. imageimageimage

I've had several express submissions ($50 & $75) bodybagged in the past. These hurt more - especially since more than one were crackouts. imageimageimage

It's funny how a bodybag is a bodybag, whether it was on a ten dollar Modern invoice or a Walkthough. The difference being $90.00 and a quicker shot at the pain.

To the NGC grader- you should have been like, "HEY! I used to work for you guys! I know my coins! You don't know anything! Now put it in plastic or the flip gets it!!!"

I much prefer to draw out my agony in the form of a four-week economy body bag! image
