Coins of the 20th Century - The Coin Vault

This is such a pet-peeve of mine. While channel surfing, I cam across the Coin Vault image only to find them hawking "Coins of the 20th Century in a Whitman Folder.

I am very familiar with this as I have put together a few of these simple sets to give as gifts to a couple of my friends children who express an interest in coins. To say the whole works is worth $75.00 is a stretch.

The coins include:

Indian, wheatie, steel penny and Lin Mem

Buff Nickel, Silver Jeff, clad Jeff

Barber Dime, Merc, Roosie silver, Roosie clad

Liberty Head, Standing Liberty, Wash silver, Wash clad, Bi-Centennial, Statehood Quarter

90% Silver Kennedy, 40% Silver Kennedy, Clad Kennedy, Standing Liberty, BiCentennial Kennedy, Liberty Head Half, Franklin

Morgan, Peace, Ike, Ike BiCentennial and SBA dollars

The price is $139.95

The worse part being the representation that this is $336.00 in coins! According to our esteemed host, some of the values include:

1971 Ike - $10.00
BiCentennial Ike - $15.00
Washington Silver Quarter - $15.00
Morgan Dollar - $40.00
Peace Dollar - $40.00
Mercury Dime - $5.00
Roosevelt Dime - $4.00
Buffalo Nickel - $5.00
SBA - $10.00
BiCentennial Kennedy - $15.00
Silver Kennedy (64) - $12.00
40% Silver Kennedy - $15.00

and of course the $15.00 folder you can buy for $4.95, if that. This MIGHT be worth $60.00.

For these well circulated coins, these "values" being hawked to an unknowing public are criminal.

There just oughta be a law.

Q: How can you tell when the guys on Coin Vault are Lying?

    A: Their lips are moving.
  • I saw a bit of that the other night. The guy always seems like he's shouting, and repeating everything about ten times.
Almost like he's convincing himself that it's a good deal.

Just another coin vault scam. The real question is, How long will they continue to get away with the lies? Probably forever.

What's it worth? Whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
  • geez, i've put one of those together myself!!! at first i wanted UNC, but then siad, the he[[ with it and went circulated. Even though i like watching when i can find it, the "deals" are nothing but a ripoff.

Do they have anytype of a return policy?
Who is a worse scammer, some of the sellers on Ebay, or the Coin Vault?

That wasn't as bad as the circulated Buffalo nickels they were selling claiming they were worth "an average of $4.00 each". Wow! $480.00 worth of Buffs for only $99.95!
