Paying a small premium, I'm guilty

I started working on a type set in MS and soon found what we all know, the good stuff gets expensive. So into AU I moved, and though I may have paid a small premium for this piece, it is the direction I want to go. I just hope it's not too dark when I get it in my hands.

1873 $1 AU55 NGC

I have only brushed up on the serious for a week or so, but this little piece just did it for me as far as eye appeal goes, because a nice piece in mint state is just out of my league.
I am open for opinions on how I did.

I don't know the series but I like the look of it. Seems to look original. I think you will enjoy this piece.

Wanted to add there is nothing wrong with paying a premium for a coin you like. Usually if a coin is too cheap there is a reason for it.

You didn't pay much of a prem for it and price lists mean little. I hope it looks better in person because the surfaces look more like VF quality rather than AU but that seller doesn't have the best pictures in his listings. If you don't feel comfortable with it when you get it then take advantage of his return policy.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Is that the scar face variety? image
Those lines do look odd to me maybe they are on the holder.

Yes I thought it being in a 55 holder was a kind of gift, hopefully it has the good eye appeal that put it in the holder it is in

I think it looks great for an AU piece. Don't know if it is a 55, but it looks nice. Price guides are just that, guides. If you don;t like it in person, return it.

I would have graded it an AU-50, but personally I really like the look of that coin. The 1873 P is much scarcer than people realize in the Trade Dollar series.
