Well, that didn't last long...

...not that I expected it to.
I bid on this 1868 PCGS PR62 CAM Seated dollar last night, and my top bid would have been around $1,225 after the buyer's fee. If I had won this coin at that price I would have turned cartwheels for that cartwheel! The cameo contrast looks a bit light and there is a trace of haze, maybe, but these were not enough to deter me. I suspect that the coin has better contrast and mirrors than the picture shows. Not surprisingly, my bid didn't last long. I might take another stab at it, but not too much higher. I predict this one will move out of my reach before very long.
That's a Pop 1 coin out of an original mintage of 600. Note that Heritage called it a "Civil War issue". I guess they need a little history lesson, huh?
Oh, well. There are other fish in the sea. I'm actually a bit relieved I got outbid, as this was an impulse bid.

You know how them southerners are. They'll still be fighting that war a century from now.
Looks attractive for the grade. Now if I could only figure out your password...
No, wait a minute, Heritage is in Texas, isn't it? Texas is a culture to itself. It was a political part of the South but it ain't really Southern.
Ask anybody here in Georgia when the Civil War ended and most will have no trouble telling you about the year 1865. (Even though 1864 was when we did most of our entertaining of Mr. Sherman...)
