Acetone on proofs and then wearing them down

I have a 1970s PR (maybe cam) nickel with a big ol' fingerprint (didn't even go to PCGS to get it!) Will acetone take it off (and if so, would nail polish remover be ok, I think it is acetone)
Secondly, how long would it take to wear down the mirrors? I am thinking of making it a pocket piece until I can give braddick a PR20 or lower modern nickel... that would be so cool! If the mirrors wear down, will the fingerprint go away, as well?

Even my Holey Coin madness is not quite as scary- after all, I don't drill holes in them- I buy the ones that have already been wounded.
Keep it up, and someone will turn you in to the ANA Coin Police, Crimes Against Coins Division. They'll dip you in acetone and wear you down a little bit, unless you recant your heretical ways!
BTW: Using fingernail polish remover can be dangerous on coins. It can contain other things...stuff to condition the nail, fragrances and such..that might do who know's what to your coins. Stick with regular acetone. Just be careful of the fumes and the flammability of it. Use it in a well ventilated area away from flames.
Of course, if you are going to use it as a pocket piece, use whatever you want. In the long run, it won't matter.
