OBW Roll of 1913 Lincolns?

What are the chances of this roll actually existing? A guy who I don't know and who I met in my local coin shop said he had one. Did banks (fed branches or locals) roll these way back then? I'm not a roll buyer (nor expert) so I'm not sure if this guy was full of cr*p or not. We exchanged phone numbers and I'd like to persue this if it's at all possible that it's real.

Any advice from you roll specialists?

Thanks!

  • I guess the possibility is out there. I do believe that banks did indeed roll coins for several years before that even.

It seems to me that a while back, a bank roll of 1915-S (or some other early date Lincoln) was discovered. It sold for like $90,000 and was later opened...it produced an MS66RD, several MS65RDs, etc. I don't know the exact circumstances of this...perhaps someone else here can shed light on this?
