The most recent Coin World has an article on the Sac $. It states that the GAO mandates that
the mint stop all marketing campaigns to promote the Sac$ unless it can prove that the coin can
co-circulate well without the elimination of the dollar note., otherwise one of them has to go.
Guess which one is gonna go. I think it will be the Sac. I recently purchased several PCGS-67 Sac$
2002 D and P. Will this series become obscolete? Is the Sac doomed? Will 2002 be the key date
with a mintage of less than 10M. Will heavy attrition and bag distribution instead of roll distribution
create a condition rarity (MS66+). I don't know? Just a thought? Any ideas?

Since these coins probably have no melt value I don't know what the mint would do with their current stock of them if they have any other than put them into circulation eventually.
more dependent on the number of coins set aside than on total mintage. It
would appear that mintages are ample to supply the market even in the lower
mintage years so scarcity is determined by number saved. It also seems that
having the available coins in relatively few hands also tends to be detrimental
to price. When these hoardes hit the market they satiate demand and depress
the price. The recent Sacs do look interesting, but it's hard to get a feel for how
many were set aside for a few years.
